Day of Ongoing Formation for Pregnancy Center Directors and Staff

The Life Center of Long Island staff members attended a Day of Ongoing Formation for Pregnancy Center Directors and Staff at Villa Maria Guadalupe Retreat Center in Stamford, Connecticut this past Saturday, April 16, 2016. The event was hosted by the Sisters of Life, who cooked breakfast and lunch for attendees and shared their beautiful building and grounds under the guidance of Sr. Lucy Marie, Respect Life Coordinator for the Archdiocese of New York.

Guest Speaker Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood Center Director who left that position to join the pro-life movement after watching an ultrasound-guided abortion, spoke about “Best Practices for a Successful Pregnancy Center.” Ms. Johnson now advocates for the unborn and helps abortion clinic workers flee the industry through her non-profit organization “And Then There Were None.” Find out more about Abby Johnson here.

Dr. Anne Nolte of The Gianna Center in Manhattan, NY also shared a presentation titled: “Quality Health Care for Women” in the afternoon. For more information about The Gianna Center click here.

Sr. Mariae Agnus Dei, of the Sisters of Life, finished off the day with her talk, “Holy Leisure! Restoring Ourselves.” Find out more about Women’s Retreats at Villa Maria Guadalupe Retreat Center here.

Theology of the Body Training

Love one another as I have loved you.- (John 15:12)

The text Theology of the Body by Saint Pope John Paul II was “unlocked” and “simplified” by former Team Freedom (sexual integrity/abstinence) teacher Laura Gianuzzi- Domanico at a full-day training session hosted by The Life Center of Long Island at the Knights of Columbus Bishop McGann Council #564 in Bay Shore, NY on April 1st. Certified in Theology of the Body, Ms. Gianuzzi-Domanico is currently on staff at St. Anthony’s High School. A group of approximately 40 volunteers and staff members attended the training.
